Judith Guthrie is returning to Bozeman for another inspirational nosework focused workshop. Judith, owner of Nose Dog Detection Services is an AKC Judge, coach, and handler. She has given numerous online seminars and classes through Scent Work University helping students worldwide become better nosework handlers. She also breeds and trains working dogs for assignments such as bomb detection dogs for TSA, search and rescue dogs for Penn Vet Working Dog Center, endangered or invasive species detection dogs for the Working Dogs for Conservation foundation and more. She has so much experience working with dogs and their noses that I can’t express how excited I am to have her back in Bozeman!

Day 1 - What Does Team Really Mean? - What is your role in the search and what is your dog's role? Learn when to step in and when to let your dog work. This topic has an incredible amount of nuance and Judith will help you break this down into handling that you and your dog can both understand and implement in real world searches.

Day 2 - Why did you put that there?! - Understanding hide placement can supercharge your dog's nose work training. Whether you’re just starting out and want to know how to set easy hides for your beginner dog or if you are an advanced team and want to expose your dog to more complicated puzzles, Judith will give you concrete ideas and examples of how to be more thoughtful with your hide placement for the training you want to achieve. And your dog will get to search some fun puzzles along the way!

What experience do I need to attend? - Working spot dogs should be on odor and have passed and Intro to Odor Class or equivalent. No further experience or qualifications required. Judith is excellent at adjusting the set up to work for the team in front of her. Teams may be competing at the Elite or Detective level while others have not yet passed an ORT.

How many teams will be there? - Registration is limited to 10 working spots per day. Auditing spots are unlimited. This gives each team a good chance to receive valuable feedback while other dogs are able to rest in cars. Dogs will be carefully managed and will be expected to be car crated unless working, pottying, or during breaks.

What will be available for lunch? I will be ordered boxed lunches from Jimmy Johns. You will get to pick what you want in your lunch with many options for individualized meals. If you do not want the provided lunch, let me know and I will deduct $15 from your fee.

Cancelation Policy - A full refund will be offered for cancellations prior to October 10th. For cancellations after October 10th, a 50% refund will be offered. Any time prior to the event, if you have a medical emergency or your dog is sick, please contact me.
