NW3/ELT NACSW Trial

Our first official NACSW trial was a huge success with teams traveling from 10 different states and provinces to join the fun. Our Certifying Official, Rachelle Bailey-Austin set very fun puzzles for the teams to solve and many took home beautiful ribbons including 4 NW3 titles, 5 ELT titles, and 1 Overall Pronounced ribbon. Huge congratulations to all the teams and a heaping of thanks to our judges, volunteers, and all the other people that came together to make this event a success.
Sniff & Go Event

Eagle Mount trusted us enough with their awesome facility to allow us to host our very first Sniff & Go. Teams from all over Montana tested their skills at this low pressure practice event. Teams arrived at their designated time, ran through 4 back to back searches and had the opportunity to discuss their runs with the judges and ask for help. I’m so proud of the the teams that stepped out of their comfort zone to give their dogs a new experience in a novel environment.
Judith shared her in depth knowledge of odor movement and behavior while giving teams a clear path towards scent work success. She walked through what skills a dog needs to have before tackling the next challenge and offered individual insight while teams worked through challenging but appropriate odor puzzles. This two day event was open to both auditors and working teams.

Odor Recognition Test

Teams stepped up to the start line to search 12 boxes for the one containing the target odor, either Birch, Anise, or Clove. At the end of the day, 5 teams successfully found odor and earned the chance to compete in future competitive events through the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW).
